Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan has rejected reports of him hitting the man who was arrested under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act for harassing the player’s wife. Shakib attended a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) hearing over the matter where he gave the clarifications.

The man was taken into custody was 23-year-old Rahid Rahman Khan, son of popular businessman Bazlur Rahman, and was accused of eve-teasing Shakib’s wife during a rain break while Bangladesh were playing India in their first ODI encounter of the Sahara Cup.

The 27-year-old faced the chances of being punished by the BCB for leaving the team locker room during the ongoing match, thus violating a rule he insists he had no idea about.

"I left the dressing-room and that is against the rules," Hasan told ESPN Cricinfo. "However, I was not aware of that rule. So from that point, I do have a fault but let's see what happens and wait for the decision. I don't regret it. I did not raise my hand. There were others, there was security, but I did not raise my hand. But yes, I was there."

Rahid was granted bail by the police the day following his arrest, however, the ex-Bangladesh skipper is determined to pursue the case further.

"I will continue with the case,” he continued. “I heard that in the case of eve-teasing there is no bail, so I don't know how that boy got bail. I am serious about this issue. I think an example needs to be set. It [eve-teasing] happens a lot in Bangladesh. This should be an example."
