Adam Voges

An unbeaten 73 from Adam Voges and a valuable 69 from Marcus North helped Western Australia reach 263/5 at stumps on day two of the Sheffield Shield match against New South Wales at Perth.

New South Wales, who resumed the day on 291/7, lost the last three wickets for 53 runs and were bowled out for 344. Manjot Singh was the first man to depart after being dismissed by Jason Behrendorff for 12 runs. Mitchell Marsh, then, accounted for Sean Abbott, who had scored 34 off 40, and Josh Hazlewood, who managed to survive 20 balls without scoring a run, was the last batsmen to be dismissed for the visitors.

Western Australia, in reply, lost the wicket of Cameron Bancroft in the first ball of the innings. But a solid 107-run stand between North and Marcus Harris took the visitors back into the position of strength. Harris, however, missed an opportunity to score a fifty as he was dismissed by Abbott for 49. North also departed in the space of six overs. Adam Voges held fort with a 146-ball 73* as the home team ended the day without any major concerns.

Brief Scores:

Western Australia 5 for 263 (Voges 73*, North 69) trail New South Wales 344 (Carters 104, Behrendorff 5-65) by 81 runs.
