England Lions' bowling coach Kevin Shine was impressed by Tom Helm's ability when he was spotted in a net session with a Middlesex age group team five years ago. The 23-year-old pace bowler has played only 17 First Class games, but his repeatable action and nagging accuracy are highly admirable.

He was ahead of Tom Curran for a berth in the current Ashes squad, but was not picked due to an injury he picked up. He needs to play more County Cricket in the next year to stake a claim for selection.
