He was compared to a young Stuart Broad by First Class umpires when he burst on to the scene last summer. That was mostly due to his ability to get deliveries to rise disconcertingly using a high arm action.

He is not very quick but he is only 20 years old and has plenty of time to add a yard of pace.

After James Anderson and Stuart Broad step down, it is up to bowlers like Tongue to shoulder the responsibility of carrying the team forward.
