The 13th edition of the South Asian Games is all set to kick off from the 1st of December 2019 and will culminate on 10th December 2019. The South Asian Games 2019 will be held in the cities of Kathmandu and Pokhara in Nepal.

Twenty-20 cricket was first introduced in the South Asian Games at the 2010 edition held in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The host nation won the gold medal by defeating Sri Lanka in the final whereas Pakistan clinched the bronze medal after defeating Maldives. During the 2010 South Asian Games, only players aged under 21 years were allowed to participate.
Cricket makes a return to the South Asian Games competition after a gap of 9 years having not featured in the 2016 edition.
The 2019 South Asian Games will see the host country Nepal, Bangaldesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Bhutan participate in the Men's T20 Cricket category. India and Pakistan have decided not to send their cricket teams for the edition.
The men's competition will see a round-robin tournament and the top four finishing nations will be up for a medal finish.
The Women's T20 Cricket category has been introduced at the South Asian Games 2019 schedule and will feature four countries - Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Maldives. India, Pakistan and Bhutan have not sent their teams for participation.
