Sreesanth has denied all allegations levelled at him and insists that he has not been a part of any kind of spot-fixing.
Sreesanth’s lawyer, who had termed the allegations against Sreesanth as baseless, released a statement today:
“I’ve never indulged in any spot-fixing and have always played cricket in the spirit of the game. As a cricketer, I have learnt to take knocks along with accolades, in my stride. I recognise that I am going through a tough period in my life. I have utmost faith in our judicial process and I am confident that with time I will be proved innocent, and my honour and dignity will be vindicated and restored.”
This is Sreesanth’s first statement since last week when Sreesanth was arrested along with Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan, who also belong to Rajasthan Royals.
The 30-year-old, who was playing for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, was arrested last week by the Delhi Police for his alleged role in spot-fixing.
Sreesanth has represented India at the international level in 27 Tests and 53 one-day internationals.
