The three-match ODI series between Sri Lanka and India kicks off on Friday, August 2, with the first game to be played at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

India whitewashed Sri Lanka in the three-match T20I series. After suffering heavy defeats in the first two T20Is, the Lankan side showed good fight in the third game before bottling up to lose it in the Super Over.

India will be high on confidence after the T20I series win. Another boost in confidence will be due to the addition of experienced players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav. Rohit will be leading the Indian side in the ODI series.

Riyan Parag, Shivam Dube and Harshit Rana have earned their maiden call-ups to the ODI side. The visitors have all the bases covered and will be looking to start the ODI series on a winning note.

Sri Lanka, meanwhile, will be low on morale. They were outplayed in the T20I series and will have to get back to the drawing board quickly before the start of the ODI series. The Lankans have failed to show character so far and it will be a real test for them.

Charith Asalanka has been named the new ODI captain of Sri Lanka. He had a disappointing start to his captaincy career after suffering a whitewash in the T20I series but will be hoping to bounce back in the 50-over format.
