The second game of the ODI series between Sri Lanka and India will be played on August 4. R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo will be hosting this clash on Sunday.

The first ODI was a thriller of a contest and the series got off to a cracking start in the capital city of Sri Lanka. The fans were treated to an absolute beauty of a game where the pendulum kept shifting from one end to the other before the game ended in a tie.

Sri Lanka opted to bat first and posted 230 on the board, thanks to fifties from Pathum Nissanka (56) and Dunith Wellalage (67*). Wellalage played a brilliant knock to take the hosts to a competitive total after they were reeling at 142/6.

It was a spinning track and the Indian bowlers made life difficult for the Lankan batters. They picked up eight wickets in total, with Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel finishing with two each.

In reply, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma led the charge with the bat and scored a quickfire 58. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and the game went down to the wire. Shivam Dube scored 25 before falling with only one required to win.

India needed one run to win with one wicket in hand. Charith Asalanka trapped Arshdeep Singh in front of the stumps on the very next ball as the Indian side failed to get across the line. As a result, the game ended in a tie.

Wanindu Hasaranga and Asalanka grabbed three scalps each. The Lankan players held their nerves and tied the game. Sri Lanka will gain a lot of confidence from it and will be looking to emulate the same performance and go one step ahead and win the game.
