England v Australia: 4th Investec Ashes Test - Day One

Joe Root hit the first boundary for England in the first innings

In their opening innings in the ongoing Ashes Test at Durham, England had to wait for 11 overs before hitting a boundary. In the last six years, which has seen their march to the top, it was one of the longest wait for England for its first boundary in an innings.

The longest England had to wait to score their first boundary was in the 3rd innings of the Test against West Indies in 2009, when 27 overs passed without a hit to the rope.

Here’re the instances since July 2007 when England had to wait for over 10 overs to score their first boundary in a Test inning”
