Virat Kohli had a forgettable captaincy debut against Sri Lanka, but fortunes turned for him in the second match as everything he did went right for the team. Firstly, as a batsman he made a 102 which in the end turned out to be the match winning innings against West Indies. It was his 14th ODI hundred and first as Indian captain.
Among the other Indian captains, only Sachin Tendulkar scored a century faster (in terms of innings) than Kohli. Tendulkar made 110 in his very first match as captain of the ODI team against Sri Lanka in 1996. Kohli is level with his former team-mate Gautam Gambhir who also scored a hundred in only his second innings as captain.
