Stats: Highest 10th-wicket partnerships for India in Tests

The duo of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami frustrated the England players with a steady last wicket partnership on the second day of the first Test match at Trent Bridge. When they were finally separated, they had already achieved a rare 100+ stand for India.

This was only the fourth instance of a hundred run stand by the last pair and the second highest in the number of runs added for the 10th wicket for India in Test matches.

The pair batted through the afternoon session and managed to keep England in the field for a good period of time after Tea that saw both the specialist bowlers reach their half centuries. Their resilience is next only to Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan’s feat of 133 runs, scored against Bangladesh in Dhaka, 2004.

The last instance when India managed more than 100 runs in their last stand was in 2010, when Harbhajan Singh and S Sreesanth scored 105 against the visiting New Zealand team.
