Stats: Highest overall partnership runs by a pair in Test cricket

They say partnerships are the most part of a Test match. While that’s a debatable point, there are some legends of the game who feature in this list consisting of the highest overall runs in a partnership by a pair.

Arguably India’s two greatest batman, Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar, lead the list having scored 6920 runs together in Tests. Following them is legendary West Indian opening pair Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes.

Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, at third place, are the only pair who are regulars in international cricket at this moment. The Sri Lankan duo hold the record for the highest partnership in a single innings for any wicket, having put on 624 for the third wicket against South Africa at the SSC back in 2006.
