Stats: Top 10 batsmen with most number of sixes (Combined Test, ODI and T20I records)

Shahid Afridi batting against England

With 431 sixes in 479 matches, Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi, popularly referred to as ‘Boom Boom’ for his nonchalant ability to clear the ropes, tops the list of players with the most number of sixes in international cricket, all formats combined.

He is followed by West Indian opener Chris Gayle at the second spot. Gayle could have overtaken Afridi by now if not for the lengthy exile from international cricket following a contract dispute with the national cricket board.

However, with both the cricketers still very much active in the international arena, there could be a twist in the tale before they hang up their boots. Former Sri Lankan captain Sanath Jayasuriya, widely credited to being the man behind the transformation of the way ODIs were played, is at the third spot.

Brendon McCullum and MS Dhoni, the captains of their national teams in all the three formats, are at distant 4th and 5th spots respectively and don’t look like posing a threat to the top two.
