Younis is now Pakistan’s leading run-scorer in Tests

Pakistan’s ever-reliable batsman Younis Khan surpassed legendary batsman Javed Miandad’s tally of 8832 runs in Tests to become the nation’s leading run-scorer. Younis achieved the feat against England in the first Test of the three-match series at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

The 37-year-old, who needed just 19 runs to claim the record, overtook the landmark with a six off Moeen Ali’s bowling. In the process, Younis not only overtook Miandad’s tally but also went past his former teammate Inzamam-ul-Haq, who had scored just 3 runs less than Miandad.

Younis Khan is often considered to be Mr.Reliable in the Pakistani team. His decorated Test career is greatly talked about in the cricketing circles. Ever since he scored a hundred on debut in Rawalpindi 15 years ago, Younis has never looked back and has been highly consistent in the longer format of the game for Pakistan.

The former Pakistani captain stands 15th on the all-time leading run-scorers list, which is headed by master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar. He has had a steady rise in Pakistani Test side over the years and has turned out to be one of Pakistan’s top Test cricketer.

The stylish-batsman has a bunch of records to his name. He has scored more hundreds for Pakistan than any other batsman. He’s also the third Pakistani to score a triple ton in Tests and the fifth Pakistani cricketer to feature in 100 or more Tests for the country.
