Each victory would fetch two points, while a non-result will see teams share a point each. In case of a tie, repeated Super Overs would be played till we get a winner.
The first round will consist of 40 matches and will culminate on June 18, 2024. The top two sides from each group will qualify for the Super-8.
T20 WC 2024 Round 2- The Super-8s
The second round will take place solely across the Caribbean islands. In this round, eight teams will be divided into two groups of four each. Top-eight teams have been seeded ahead of the WC.
Teams seeded first and second in the first round will retain their seeding in the Super-8 irrespective of their position after the completion of the group-stage fixtures, provided they qualify for the Super-8.
If the non-seeded team qualifies for the second round, they will take the position of the team they knocked out. India and Pakistan are seeded as 1 and 2 in Group A, which means The Men in Blue will go to Group 1 irrespective of their final position in the points table. Similarly, Australia will qualify for Group 1, as they are seeded No.2 in Group B.
The Super-8 stage will take place between June 19-25, 2024.
