T20 World Cup: Surprise Package : Afghanistan

8 days to go and 12 teams will battle for One cup: ICC T20 World Cup. Battle ground is set. South Africa, India, Pakistan and Australia are front runners for the cup.But it’s a T20 game and anything can happen. In this edition of T20 World Cup one surprise package is waiting to threat all front runner teams and it’s Afghanistan. Afghanistan may pose more of a threat to India and South Africa, as Afghanistan is in the same group with India and South Africa.

Smith, captain of South Africa feels Afghanistan can be a surprise package as they are unknown for every team. Afghanistan is a fearless side as they have nothing to loose. They showed some great cricketing skills in qualifying matches. They successfully overcome every challenge in qualifier (T20 WC). They missed the opportunity to qualify for 2011 50-50 World Cup marginally.

Afghanistan developed its cricketing skills in a war zone that make them more respected and fearless. According to Afghanistan opener Karim Sadiq- “he was not scared of facing Dale Steyn and I wouldn’t be either if I grew up in a war zone.” That is the kind of confidence Afghanistan will carry with them self in world cup.
