The Ashes 2013: Michael Vaughan predicts 4-0 victory for England

Former England Captain Michael Vaughan has predicted a 4-0 victory for England in the ongoing Ashes series. He has predicted that England will go on and win the next Test match at the Oval.

Vaughan believes that England showed more fighting spirit and were far more bold in their approach when compared to the Australians; he has mentioned in a column for The Telegraph.

When things looked tough on Sunday morning with Australia only 16 runs behind and having five wickets in hand, England stepped up the gears.

Speaking on England’s ability to stay calm even though things looked tricky on the final day Vaughan said, “They were also calm in the field when Australia got their chase off to a great start. I did not see any panic. They must have been worrying inside, but they gave off a calm vibe. I liked the way Cook moved his fielders. He worked out where David Warner and Chris Rogers were going and he spread the field but kept two catchers in play.”

Vaughan also had good words for England fast bowler Stuart Broad. He compared his inspired bowling spell on the final day of the Test match to great spells of the past such as the ones produced by Ian Botham, Bob Willis and Andrew Flintoff.

Vaughan was harsh in his analysis of Australia and was blunt enough to say that they had forgotten the art of winning.

“As for Australia, this will really hurt them. They have forgotten how to win. They will say they were robbed by rain at Old Trafford, but they did not win and have lost seven out of eight Tests.

They have forgotten how to get over the line. To lose by 74 runs, chasing 299 when they were 147 for one is some collapse.” he wrote.
