The first batsman to wear a helmet

Graham Neil Yallop, a former Australian Cricketer who also captained Australia during the tumultuous era of World Series Cricket (WSC) in 1978 was the first cricketer to wear a helmet in Cricket.

Facing the likes of Joel Garner, Andy Roberts and Colin Craft, he became the first batsman to wear a full helmet on his head for protection, creating history. He scored 317 runs at an average of 45.29 in that series.
