#2 Brendon McCullum
Arguably one of the most explosive openers in world cricket, Brendon McCullum’s impeccable method of play involves a fearless and bold display of batting. Often stepping out early on to the fast bowlers, McCullum’s game revolves around unsettling the bowlers initially to set-up the platform for a massive total.
Naturally an aggressive player, McCullum has provided explosive starts even in test matches. With a wealth of experience, the dashing opener leads the charts as the highest run-scorer in T20I’s. Famously known for his big hitting ability and glovework, McCullum’s services were procured by KKR in IPL 2008 for a sum of US $700,000.
In his first match for them, the New Zealander blazed his way to an unbeaten 158 off just 73 balls which included 10 fours and 13 sixes against a hapless RCB bowling line-up and is regarded as one of the best T20 innings ever.
After three seasons with KKR, McCullum moved to the now defunct Kochi Tuskers Kerala and in the same year joined forces with Brisbane Heat in the BBL and is now a regular member of the Heat’s lineup. Following KTK’s ouster from the IPL, McCullum has represented CSK and now plays for the Gujarat Lions. In the CPL, he plays for the Trinbago Knight Riders.
