It was the 62nd match of IPL 2012 between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Mumbai Indians needed a win to ensure their qualification to the playoffs while RCB needed a win to keep their playoff chances alive.
The Royal Challengers batted first and posted 171/6 on the board thanks to a 30-ball 64 from Mayank Agarwal.

Rayudu and Pollard added 122 for the 6th wicket, bettering the 104-run stand between David Hussey and Wriddhiman Saha against KXIP in IPL-1. The partnership between Rayudu and Pollard is also the second-highest 6th wicket stand in T20 history.
