Over the years, the words Chennai Super Kings and Mahendra Singh Dhoni have synonymous to each together. The association between the two has been so strong it is almost impossible to imagine the franchise without him.

MS Dhoni's captaincy has made CSK the team to beat in the Indian Premier League. His ability to get the best out of the players has helped the franchise in asserting dominance in the league. Even when there were many apprehensions about the team's average in the 2018 season, Dhoni managed to lead his side to the title on the franchise's return to IPL.

In addition to scoring more than 4000 runs in IPL, MSD accounted for 87 catches and 33 stumpings. With 186 sixes to his name, he is the second, along with AB de Villiers, on the list of batsmen with most sixes in the tournament.

Chennai Super Kings will still be the oldest team in the competition next year but if MS repeats what he did in the 2018 season he might even inspire his side to another title. During the 2018 season, he scored as many as 455 runs with an average of 75.83, his highest in all seasons. With Dhoni's high level of fitness favoring them, the men in yellow will hope that with MSD will continue playing for the franchise as long as possible.
