The cricket grounds are where the action happens, where dreams are made and where drama and emotions run wild. History is made, records are broken where fans can witness the masters of the beautiful game. Over the years, many grounds have become established and are revered as more than just an alright, average sporting venue .Grounds like the Lord’s and the Eden Gardens have become renowned as some of the best. The magnitude of these places have been acknowledged. The considerable show of skills that have been displayed within these hallowed grounds is overwhelming. However, let me tell you about the biggest cricket ground

The MCG, as it’s well known, was built in 1853 and cricket was first played there in 1856. Since then, it has developed and established a excellent history and has hosted many inspiring cricketing battles.

It has hosted more than 100 Test matches (including the first in 1877); it has also played home to several other sports such as football, rugby and Australian wheel races (don’t ask what that is). If that’s not enough, it was also the main stadium for the 1956 Olympic games, it hosted all of the track and field events, and if you’re not easily pleased, it also hosted the opening and closing ceremonies.

If you’re still not convinced, it has also staged many sell out music concerts, with blockbuster names performing such as U2, Madonna, Michael Jackson and Rolling stones. Pope John Paul II even held a mass there in 1986!

So not only a cricketing venue but one for football, rugby, Australian wheel races, religion and music. What more could you want from one place?

Recent development to one of the stands has given the ground the ability to boast a huge capacity of 100,018. Now, that’s a lot of people!

I truly believe that all of these factors add up to equal one amazing venue, and I hope one day I can witness another cracking cricket match there.
