It’s going to be a thorough new look to the IPL with its chairman ousted and most of the franchises juggling with their team to give it a completely new look.
Looks like Siddharth Mallya has been playing a lot of badminton with Deepika Padukone. That’s why he has lost all his balls. Who in their right frame of mind would not retain Anil Kumble?
That’s right. RCB has decided to drop all their players, including veterans like Kumble, Dravid and Kallis and retain only Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli has not exactly been a consistent player before the India v. New Zealand series took place. Going by those standards, even Yusuf Pathan should be retained by the Royals (Wait, are they even playing this year?) after his 100 odd knock in the 4th ODI.
Where do players like Robin Uthappa, Rohit Sharma, Parthiv Patel go now, who are hardly around? With the World Cup being merely a few months away, Team India would not like to jumble their winning combination, unless of course, we are talking about an injury prone Zaheer Khan or it’s Dhoni with his forever stiff back.
CSK has retained Dhoni, Raina, Albie Morkel and Murali Vijay. Mumbai Indians might as well invite a 26/11 like attack on their city if they had not retained Sachin Tendulkar. Kolkata Knight Riders decided not to retain anyone for the next edition. Is it a good move or great move, considering their performance in all the 3 seasons?
Siddharth Mallya mumbled that it was a matter of a tight budget that they could only retain Kohli.
My point here is that, it would do no good to the franchises if they simply drop a player on the basis of his previous bad performances when it was actually a matter of lack of opportunity.
What’s your take? How should the franchises decide whom to retain and whom to sell?
