TNPL 2019, TP vs RTW Preview: Different goals for Tuti Patriots and Ruby Trichy Warriors

Natham, Dindigul, August 05: Tuti Patriots will be eyeing a victory against the bottom-placed Ruby Trichy Warriors at the NPR College Ground, Natham, Dindigul on Tuesday to stay in contention for a playoff spot in the 4th Sankar Cement Tamil Nadu Twenty20 Premier League (TNPL).

With two wins from five matches, Tuti Patriots are still in the race for a top-four slot with four points. They will have to win both their remaining matches – against RTW and Chepauk Super Gillies -- and hope the other games work in their favour.

In contrast, the Trichy outfit is still seeking a win despite their star batsman Murali Vijay’s batting brilliance, two of which resulted in ties. Despite coming so close to a victory, they lost to iDream Karaikudi Kalaai and defending champions Siechem Madurai Panthers in the Super Over.

With no win in five games, RTW can still avoid the last place if they win their last two games against TP and VB Kanchi Veerans.

The onus will once again be on Vijay to shore them provided the other batsmen also step up. The runs scored by the second best batsmen in the side after Vijay (235 runs from three matches) is 77 runs each by wicketkeeper Mani Bharathy and opener Karunakaran Mukunth, shows where RTW has faltered in the season.

Both teams, thus, are chasing different goals. While TP is seeking a playoff spot, RTW is looking to avoid the last place in the standings.
