The first game played at Eden Gardens was the second test match of a three-test-match series between India and England from January 5, 1934, to January 8, 1934. Likewise, the stadium also saw its first ODI (One Day International) match in the form of India vs Pakistan on February 18, 1987. The stadium also hosted its first-ever IPL game in the form of the Kolkata Knight Riders vs the Deccan Chargers on April 20, 2008.
