In the first ODI of Sri Lanka vs South Africa series in 2012, hosts South Africa batted first after winning the toss. Hashim Amla played a wonderful innings where he scored 112 runs and led South Africa to a total of 301/8 in their 50 overs. Jacques Kallis and skipper AB de Villiers too contributed with half-centuries to support Amla.
Sri Lanka were set a target of 302 and with the likes of T Dilshan, K Sangakkara, D Chandimal and M Jayawardene in their batting line-up, they were expected to give a tough fight to the Proteas.
However, the Lankan lions completely surrendered to Morne Morkel and L Tsotsobe's pace and swing as they lost all their wickets for just 43 runs in 20.1 overs. They had a run rate of just 2.13 in the innings. South Africa won the match by 258 runs.
