#2 Vijay Manjrekar (India)
Vijay Manjrekar, the father of former Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar, was a fine cutter and hooker of the ball. The Mumbai-born batsman made his debut for India in the third Test of England’s 1951-52 tour of India. Batting at no.7, he scored a decent 48 in his very first International innings.
Manjrekar scored his maiden Test century in his very first outing in England at the age of 20. In the process, he rescued India from a top-order collapse by scoring 133 runs in the first Test of their 1952 tour of England. Even though he had nimble footwork, Manjrekar managed to survive to an extent in the International arena. In 55 Tests, he scored 3208 runs with 7 centuries and 15 half-centuries. He has scored a century in his final innings against New Zealand in 1965.
