#1 Andrew Tye (31 wickets in 2018)

Australia’s T20 specialist Andrew Tye holds the record for the most wickets in T20Is in a calendar year. Tye claimed 31 wickets in 19 games in 2018 at an average of 18.93 and a strike rate of 13.2. That said, his high economy of 8.56 was a concern.
Tye’s best figures of 4 for 23 came in his very first T20I of the year, against New Zealand at Sydney in February. He claimed the big scalp of opposition skipper Kane Williamson (8) and then ran through the tail after sending back all-rounder Mitchell Santner (1). New Zealand ended their innings on a disappointing 117 for 9 as Australia won the match by seven wickets.
Tye had a memorable run in the tri-series in Zimbabwe, also featuring Pakistan, claiming three-fors in four consecutive matches. His standout effort was 3 for 12 against Zimbabwe, the same match in which Aaron Finch smashed a record 172 from 76 deliveries.
Despite a record-breaking 2018, Tye did not feature in a single T20I for Australia in 2019. In November, he was ruled out for up to four months due to elbow surgery.
