Rahul Dravid, a synonym for elegance, has been regarded as the crisis-man for the Indian cricket team at overseas tours.

Dravid's greatest contribution to Indian cricket has been his performance in away-series, where he has been the principal architect of several Indian wins.

Interestingly, Dravid made his Test debut in the same match against England at Lords in which Ganguly made his debut.

He scored a well-stitched 95 on Test debut in an innings that was overshadowed by a century from fellow debutant Sourav Ganguly.

Dravid was one of the most important factors in India's success at abroad. Indian Test team was so much influenced by Dravid that the won more matches abroad in the 2000s than they did in their entire Test history from 1934 to 1999.
