A right-handed batsman and a clever medium-pace bowler, Steve Waugh was one of the finest cricketers Australia has ever produced and a great cricketing role model. He was awarded the Australian of the Year award in 2004 and was inducted into ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2010.
Steve Waugh played 168 tests and 325 One Day Internationals for Australia, scoring 18496 runs and taking 287 wickets including 35 hundreds.
Waugh represented Australia in four World Cups from 1987 to 1999. He scored a massive 978 runs and took some useful wickets (27). The former Australian captain led his team to glory in the 1999 World Cup in England when they beat Pakistan in the finals to lift their second World Cup.
