#1 Sanath Jayasuriya, Sri Lanka

He was the man who revolutionized One Day International Cricket (ODI) with his aggressive batting and redefined the game of limited overs cricket. Starting his career as a left-arm orthodox spin bowler, Jayasuriya soon became the opening batsman for Sri Lanka.
He was one of the key players in Sri Lanka's 1996 Cricket World Cup triumph, where he won the Man of the Tournament for his all-round contributions. Jayasuriya played a mammoth 445 One Day Internationals and 110 tests for Sri Lanka, scoring 20403 international runs and picked up 421 international wickets.
In his World Cup career, Sanath Jayasuriya has scored 1165 runs (all time 6th highest in World Cups) and has picked up 27 wickets. Jayasuriya was named as one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1997. He captained Sri Lanka in 38 test matches and 117 one day internationals.
