Rahul ultimately lost his wicket to Chris Morris after scoring 51 runs in 16 balls

After RCB decided against retaining KL Rahul for the 2018 edition of IPL, the Karnataka batsman was snapped up by Kings XI Punjab for Rs 11 crores. The right-hander immediately repaid the faith shown in him by the Punjab-based franchise and played a whirlwind knock of 51 runs which came of only 16 deliveries against Delhi Daredevils in their tournament opener.

DD were put into bat by KXIP skipper Ravichandran Ashwin and riding on Gautam Gambhir's half-century, put on 166 runs in the first innings. In reply, KL started off from the word go and slammed Trent Boult for 16 runs in the first over. The second over from Shami cost DD 12 runs and the third one from Amit Mishra saw the right-handed batsman hit 24 runs and in the process completed his fifty in 14 deliveries.
