#3 Baz matches Finch’s knock, but falls short

Despite McCullum’s quick-fire knock, Heat just fell short of the target.
With exactly 200 to chase, Brendon McCullum was the ideal man to start at the top of the order and play an innings equivalent to the one by Finch. McCullum looked in supreme touch as he cracked an 18-ball 50 – the second-fastest in the tournament’s history – and looked like he would chase down, what initially looked like a tall order for Heat against an attack that boasts of Sunil Narine and Brad Hogg in its arsenal.
In fact, at the end of the first five overs, Heat had bettered the start of Renegades, blasting 84 runs at a mind-boggling run rate of close to 17 as against the former’s 60 in the same number of overs. However, this blitz at the top was not enough to win the game after a very bizarre last few overs.
