Glenn Maxwell, the quintessential T20 player, who struggles to find his place in the national side, played one of the most exciting innings in the shortest format of the game at Blundstone Arena on Wednesday.

Following an unbeaten 40 against New Zealand in the opening game, the 29-year-old hit a sublime unbeaten 103 off 58 balls as Australia chased down 155 with 9 balls to spare.

Returning to the strike on 97 with one needed for victory, he smashed Mark Wood over mid-wicket to reach his 2nd T20I century, containing 10 fours and four sixes.

Earlier, Maxwell tore the heart out of the visiting side with the ball as he claimed an incredible 3/10 from his two overs.
