The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav was declared the man of the match on March 20th in a friendly T20 match. The match was played between CM XI and UP IAS Officers Association XI in Lucknow.
The match was organized as a part of the annual four-day meet of officers “IAS week” which concluded on Sunday. The match was played at La Martinier ground in Lucknow.
The CM XI won the toss and their captain Akhilesh Yadav elected to bat first and smashed 65 runs himself including 11 boundaries and a six. They set up a target of 129 in their allotted quota of 20 overs.
In reply, IAS XI went close to the target but couldn’t manage to win as they scored 126 in 20 overs. Vidhan Sabha Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey presented the trophy to the captain of the winning team.
However, the way the young CM was batting led to suspicion that either the bowlers of the IAS team were below average or, at least, some of them intentionally allowed Yadav to hammer them all over the park. He was adjudged as the best player of the match for his knock.
Speaking on the occasion, UP chief minister appreciated the cooperation of officers in the development of the state and said he expects similar cooperation from them in future as well. He also congratulated the Indian cricket team on their victory over Pakistan in the ongoing ICC World T20 match on Saturday.
