Indian speedster Varun Aaron has stated that he will play county cricket next season provided his IPL commitments frees him early. The 24-year-old who was part of India’s Test squad that toured England this season mentioned playing in England county was high on his priority list.

“If we have an early IPL next time, then I would definitely look forward to playing county cricket, at least for half a season,” Aaron was quoted as saying by The Telegraph.

The Jharkhand seamer impressed in short spells and operated at a brisk pace to trouble the English batsmen. Notably, one of his short deliveries injured Stuart Broad’s nose who was surprised by the pace and bounce from the seamer in the fourth Test of the 5-match series.

“I think I’ve played enough in England – I’ve been here two months – so I have a decent understanding of English conditions. English conditions are quite testing for everybody involved in the game, for bowlers and batsmen. So I’m really looking forward to playing in England as it will help me develop as a cricketer,” he added on his intentions.

The bowler is the second Indian after batsman Cheteshwar Pujara to express his wish to be involved in English county after a poor series loss to the home team. The report further claims that the batsman is still waiting for a final clearance from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for his participation. Pujara will then replace West Indian Shivnarine Chanderpaul for Derbyshire as the Guyanese cricketer is away for his international commitments.
