Video: Four boundary assist catches you can never forget

Adam Lyth pulled off a stunner with his acrobatic leaping assist catch at the boundary rope in Natwest T20 Blast at Old Trafford. In case you haven’t seen it yet, here it is:

This is not the first time when such a catch has been taken, though it may well be the best of the lot so far! New Zealand’s Bevan Small, playing for Central Districts in HRV Twenty20 competition on 5th January 2012, pulled off a similar acrobatic jump on the boundary, parrying the ball to Michael Mason, who completed the catch:

The Sri Lankan duo of Angelo Mathews and Mahela Jayawardene pulled off a similar heist in the 2nd T20I vs Australia in Pallekele on 8th August 2011. Mathews caught the ball inside the boundary rope, but the momentum threatened to take him over the boundary rope. Showing brilliant presence of mind, he threw the ball to an incoming Mahela Jayawardene before the crossed over the rope.

Then the Worcestershire duo of Joe Root and David Miller completed a similar catch in Friends Life T20 2012 Quarter Final match against Yorkshire, dismissing James Cameron with an assist catch:
