Playing for Derbyshire, the 26-year-old was batting on 9 when he played a forward defence to a ball off Atif Sheikh’s bowling. He instinctively hit the ball with the back of his right hand when it seemed destined to hit the stumps. The Leicestershire players immediately went up in appeal and Pujara was given his marching orders by the umpires.
