Video: Cricket South Africa releases 100 reasons why they love AB de Villiers

AB de Villiers becomes only the seventh South African player to cross the 100 Test mark

As South Africa’s One-day captain AB de Villiers comes out to bat for his country in Bangalore today, one of the world’s most beloved players will be stepping out for his 100th Test match. He becomes only the seventh South African player to cross the 100 Test mark and the only current player to have achieved that landmark.

On this occasion, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has released a video, commemorating the 31-year old’s stupendous achievement and giving 100 reasons why they love their hero.

The video begins with South African Test captain Hashim Amla and includes testimony of AB’s team mates, family, former cricketers, other famous sports personalities and fans.

Hashim Amla says, “AB, it is a special occasion. Not only am I in my suit and tie, but it’s also your 100th Test. You have been making 100s for us for the last 10 years and I thought it would be a great time for us to give you a 100.”

Spin bowler Imran Tahir sounds absolutely thrilled that he and AB play for the same team. He exclaimed, “I love AB de Villers because I don’t have to bowl to him. Beauty!”

Famous South African professional golfer Louis Oosthuizen is certain that he doesn’t want AB to be anywhere near his sport. “They way you hit the ball right now, I am not giving you any shots to play in golf,” he joked!

Mpumelelo "Pommie" Mbangwa, former Zimbabwe cricketer is simply astounded by ABD’s prolific cricket skills. “Who says he is going to be the best batsman in the world and then actually becomes that?” he asks.

Whether it is his reverse sweep or his passion for the game, the video shows how much AB de Villiers is loved by everyone in the game.
