During a test match between Australia and England in 1979, Dennis Lillee came to bat with an aluminium bat. At that time, there was no rule against it.
His shots with the that bat damaged the ball and the opposition captain complained to the umpire. The umpire then asked him to bat with a wooden bat. Lillee in anger threw his bat away and later batted with the wooden one.
