The menace that England had to undergo during the 2013-14 Ashes series in Australia, which they lost 0-5, is perhaps best demonstrated by this video: a compilation of Mitchell Johnson’s bouncers hurled at the England batsmen. The speed at which the ball crosses the batsmen, had it hit them, the helmets or any protective gear wouldn’t have mattered. Some serious exhibition of pace bowling and a demonstration of what raw pace can do.

Indian pacer Ishant Sharma’s line of attack in the recently concluded Test at Lord’s, masterminded by MS Dhoni, would very well have been inspired by Johnson’s ruthless spells in this series; no wonder that the England team was bounced out, again.
