This is Michael Holding’s brutal spell at the Oval in 1976 against England. Pitches throughout England were flat and lifeless and even the normally lush green Oval outfield was devoid of any grass, as can be seen in the video. But Holding did not need any help from the pitches as he terrorized the English batsmen in one of the greatest demonstrations of fast bowling ever seen!

He returned with match figures of 14/149, including 8/92 in the first innings.
