Video: Mohammad Ashraful features in music video titled 'I am not who I used to be'

Mohammad Ashraful is currently serving a ban for having fixed matches in the Bangladesh Premier League

Bangladesh’s batting prodigy, Mohammad Ashraful, who is currently serving a 5-year ban for admitting to spot fixing during the 2013 Bangladesh Premier League, has featured majorly in a music video, which has been made to accompany the latest romantic song of popular singer Shoma Rahman, who is also the wife of former cricketer Atiar Rahman.

The video starts off with a clip of Ashraful’s masterful innings of 94* off 52 balls, scored against England in 2005, the fastest T20 half-century at that stage.

Ashraful, the second highest run-scorer in both Tests and ODIs and also a former captain of his country, is currently 31 years old and still has 4 years of his ban remaining before he can return to cricket. The tainted BPL has been inactive since Ashraful’s admission, but is slated to restart soon.

The arrangement of Ashraful acting in the video was could be made possible because the cricketer knew the singer Shoma Rahman through her cricketer husband. The Bangladesh cricket team’s website is the ‘online partner’ for the song.

Shoma Rahman has expressed her excitement about the work: “I’m emotionally touched about the song. This song is rather special to me because our national hero Mohammad Ashraful worked with me in here.

Asgraful spoke on his experiences: “I really enjoyed the proceedings, especially to work with Shoma Rahman, the wife of our former cricketer Atiar Rahman. I hope you will like it.”
