India had scored 104 runs in the first innings with Rahul Dravid unbeaten on 31 runs. While Jason Gillespie picked up 4 wickets, Nathan Haurtiz accounted for three. In return, Australia managed to score 203 runs.
In the second innings, with VVS Laxman scoring 69 runs and Sachin Tendulkar scoring 55 runs, India set a target of 107 for the visitors.
