Video: Rick McCosker's act which became synonymous with bravery in cricket

In the cenetary Test at Melbourne in 1977, Rick McCosker of Australia was out in the first innings in a very unlucky manner. A bouncer hit him on his head and the ball landed onto his stumps after that.

Badly injured, he was immediately sent to hospital. Having suffered a broken jaw, he rested for one and a half days in hospital and then came to MCG on Day 3. He went out to bat in the 3rd innings with his head covered with bandages.

He was greeted with a bouncer again but showed the courage to pull it to the boundary. He scored 25 runs in the 2nd innings and helped Rod Marsh complete his century. He was involved in a half-century partnership with Marsh, and Australia won the Test by 45 runs.
