Video: Sachin wrongly given out on 99; misses yet another hundred

Sachin Tendulkar holds the unfortunate record of getting dismissed in his nineties most number of times in ODI cricket (18). Like his other records, even here he has a more than healthy lead, with the next batsman of the list getting dismissed only 9 times in nineties.

In fact, he’s the only player who has been dismissed on 99 three times in ODIs. On one such instance in Bristol in 2007, he didn’t have himself to blame as the umpire got it horribly wrong.

A Flintoff delivery rose higher than Tendulkar expected and deviated after hitting his armguard. The wicket-keeper caught the ball, and to Sachin’s horror, umpire Ian Gould raised the dreaded finger. Here’s the video:
