Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar is known to not hold anything back in his interviews. But in his latest debate on national TV, Akhtar went on an epic and emotional rant, claiming Misbah-ul-Haq is a coward and calling Younis Khan an imposter.
In the debate, which also included former players like Mohammad Yousuf and Azhar Mahmood, Akhtar called for the coach, Waqar Younis, to resign in the aftermath of the bad performances of the team. He said that this is the third time that Waqar has been the coach and he has not done well even a single time.
He reserved the worst for Misbah, calling him selfish and a coward. He didn’t even spare Misbah’s broken English during his post-match interviews. Akhtar said that Misbah should stop giving the match summary in the post-match interview and instead give reasons for the players’ failures. He added that Misbah has been fooling the public for the last four years and that he was only concerned with scoring 60-odd runs off 90 balls for himself.
Akhtar also said the public should stop comparing Pakistan’s current World Cup campaign to the 1992 winning run under Imran Khan, citing the disparity in captaincy skills between Imran and Misbah.
