Every time India and Pakistan do battle on the pitch, cricket fans from both nations sit glued in front of the television sets as fireworks ensue. The two Asian heavyweights have been involved in a number of memorable contests over the years but with the ongoing stalemate over the future of the Indo-Pak series scheduled for December, one would be hoping that the two boards sort out the issues and resume bilateral ties sooner rather than later.
The headlines in the cricket world are currently being topped by the Cricket All-Stars extravaganza being held in the USA. Warne’s Warriors might have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead against Sachin’s Blasters in the three-match series after winning the Houston match by 57 runs, but undoubtedly the real winner out of the event is the Gentleman’s Game.
What better proof for the above statement than the video uploaded by Virender Sehwag on his official Facebook page which shows him sharing a ride on the team bus with Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar. While India have been predominantly dominant in the batting department, Pakistan have always been a battery of pace bowlers. Akhtar was one such fast bowler who enjoyed his fair share of battles with the Indian team.
With Sehwag and Akhtar both turning out for Sachin’s team, the duo has been making the best of the opportunity presented to forge a friendship with each other. In the video uploaded by Sehwag, Akhtar is seen speaking in Hindi, talking about his newly found friendship with the Indian cricketer.
“Hello, it’s me, Shoaib Akhtar. Look what amazing stuff happens in the world. Someone who has been a big enemy of mine in the past is one of my closest friends currently. Guess who?”, says Akhtar, before moving the camera to reveal Sehwag who responded in kind.
