Tamil Nadu won their first match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy this year, defeating Services by 83 runs. It was N Jagadeesan's spectacular century which saw his side through. Apart from him, Abhinav Mukund and Baba Indrajith scored well-crafted half-centuries to help their side put up 315 on the board in the first innings.

In response, it was the mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthi's five-wicket haul which saw Tamil Nadu bowl Services out for 232. Arjun Sharma top-scored for them with 46 runs to his name. Baba Aparajith bowled well too, picking up three wickets.
