Tamil Nadu, in reply, rode on Murali Vijay’s 92-run knock to easily overhaul the target in 47.5 overs, aided by a handy contribution from skipper Dinesh Karthik, who remained unbeaten on 21 that went on to complement Murthy Prabhu's five-wicket haul on the bowling front.
#3 February 23, 2012, at Bengaluru- Tamil Nadu won by 62 runs
Tamil Nadu continued their domination against Karnataka in the 2012 edition of the Vijay Hazare trophy as they humbled the hosts at home and pocketed a comfortable 62-run victory. Winning the toss at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium at Bengaluru, the Karnataka bowlers dented the visitors early as the top three batsmen were dismissed for scores of 5,0, and 1. However, Dinesh Karthik made his way to a glorious century, a 132-ball 137 to help Tamil Nadu post a challenging total of 270 on the board.
Robin Uthappa got Karnataka off to a flourishing start with a couple of boundaries, but a fine spell of bowling from R Jesuraj saw the latter sending both the openers back to the hut, before some tight bowling from the rest of the bowling unit saw Karnataka losing quick wickets.
Towards the end, Lakshmipathy Balaji took little time to clean out the tail as he helped his side bowl out Karnataka for just 208, and in the process, register a 62-run win.
